“We are here to make pen-based data entry the standard interface for every EMR.” – Chris Joyce, Founder and President.
Tablet-based Clinical and Patient Documentation : Logical Progression's Electronic Consent Solution A Success At ARMC

ARMC Increases Operational Efficiency By Going Paperless With Logical Ink®

Cary, NC, April. 29, 2008 – Logical Progression, a software company specializing in tablet PC healthcare solutions, announced today a successful implementation of its electronic charting solution, Logical Ink®, at Alamance Regional Medical Center (ARMC).  ARMC is one of the nation’s leading hospitals for adopting new technologies that improve patient care.

Logical Ink® creates an electronic chart based on an HL7 feed from the hospital information system (HIS) and provides a natural, pen and paper interface for data collection via digital ink and handwriting recognition.  Forms completed on the tablet are validated and sent to the EMR seamlessly.  By going paperless with Logical Ink®, ARMC estimates their admission process has been cut by 5 minutes per patient.  It also made bedside registration more efficient using a solution that embraced mobility.

“We’ve eliminated a step in the process for our registrars,” says Bunnie Overby, Director of Patient Financial Services for ARMC.  “They no longer have to scan paper consents into Siemens Document Imaging and Medical Records no longer has to scan charts into Eclipsys Clinical Record.”  Overby adds, “We are very impressed with our new tablet PC solution and with our partners in this project, Logical Progression.  Both the staff and the patients love the solution and the support we’ve received has been fantastic.”

“An HL7 interface, bilingual forms, HIPAA compliance, mobility, custom validation rules at the point of care and a familiar, pen/paper interface are just some of the reasons why our Logical Ink solution is so powerful and intuitive,” says Chris Joyce, President and Founder of Logical Progression.    “We are saving ARMC over 673 man-hours per year by eliminating scanning and automatically indexing and integrating with their EMRs – increasing staff and patient satisfaction in the process.”

Logical Progression and ARMC were chosen to host a workshop on tablet-based charting and electronic consent at the NAHAM 34th annual conference in Dallas, Texas.
